General Meeting - In House Competition

  • June 28, 2009
  • 04:00 PM - 06:00 PM
  • Tres Amigos Restaurant - 1801 South Capital of Texas Hwy (Loop 360), Austin, TX

THIS COMPETITION INVOLVES COMPOSITION AND  DESIGN.
(DESIGN ELEMENTS ARE:VALUE, LINE, COLOR, TEXTURE, SHAPE, SPACE )

Below you will see the categories , you may enter any amount of these, however, only one prize per person will be permitted in the final judging.

YOUR ENTRIES MAY BE UNFRAMED OR FRAMED.

Please try & be a part of this, it’s a lot of fun & a way for all members to be a part of an ‘IN HOUSE’ competition.

Please print the rules out &  read them..

 CATEGORIES.

1) Take an everyday object.. or an object in nature, a tree, a rock, a house, or an apple, a bottle, a fish, the subject is really up to the artist.
Using repetition and movement, your painting should reveal these qualities. (value , space and  color are some of the elements you could consider) and there must be overlapping and repetition.

2) Take a face or many faces and create a ‘facescape’.
There must be at least 5 faces, & overlapping must be a feature.
(shape, space, value are some of the elements you could consider)

3) Using the theme of ‘the arts’.. depict the world of dance, prose, painting, music or similar.
(shape, line, space. tone are some of the elements you could consider)

4) Figurative in environment.. using the figure/s , ‘meld’ the subject into it’s environment. (space, line, color are some of the elements you could consider)

5) landscape… let’s view the landscape in a different way. Try extending your abilities ..for example …
Depict the scene from a BIRD’S EYE view,(looking down on something)  or an ANT’S EYE view, (Looking up to something).
Push yourself to see the landscape from a different perspective.  (space) texture, value, line, color are some of the elements you could consider  )

Now I realize there are many other extensions of design elements one could use & if they too would be valid in any of these themes mentioned.

The closing date for these is the JUNE MEETING.

Prizes will be awarded after a secret ballot by members present.

Make sure the category or categories in which you are entering are written on the back of your entry.

If you wish to make your painting available for a silent auction (the monies of which) will go into our SCHOLARSHIP FUND, you may.

Just make sure that is made clear on the back of your piece/s as well.

That’s it, not hard is it, not for a talented group such as ours, I know you can all do something amazing for this. Get painting everyone,

GOOD LUCK
